Whether you are completely new to teaching or are already a teacher and wish to learn more about TESOL methods, this course is designed to be of practical use to you in the classroom.The Level 1 TESOL course for teaching young learners (95 hours) adds on key specialist study areas and material for teaching from Kindergarten through to Teenagers, in a wide variety of settings. Both courses lead to the accredited Preliminary Certificate of TESOL Distance Education Courses, awarded by (ACTDEC - the Accrediting Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses). The 95 hour course also adds on a special Teaching English to Young Learners Certificate from Global English. All Global English tutors are highly qualified TESOL teachers with international experience and are on hand to offer help or advice during your course. Course enrollees should either have a degree in any subject or university level entrance qualifications ('A' levels or equivalent). But consideration is also be given to mature applicants who possess significant life experience e.g. in teaching, business, languages or with young people. Global English welcomes applicants whose first language is not English. However, non-native English speakers should possess a high level of written and spoken English and/or English language qualifications, such as C.A.E. or C.P.E. or IELTS. :: Course ContentsBoth courses are divided into 4 modules and include the specialist CD-Rom 'Train to Teach English'. The 70 hour course looks at teaching English both to young learners and adults, with an emphasis on helping you in practical ways in your classroom. So you'll cover the practical elements of teaching, like classroom management (group work and pair work, discipline, correction and classroom sensitivity) as well as the key theory needed for teaching the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. There are comprehensive sections on English Grammar and unlimited tutorial support as you progress.For a complete module by module list of course contents, click here. The 95 hour young learner course adds on specific YL material, including sections on: Young learner characteristics, managing your resources, specialist sections on teaching English to Kindergarten, Primary and teenagers, classroom management and motivating your young learners. There is also an excellent section on teaching English with minimal resources, ideal if you are traveling to a country where you won't have ready access to resources and materials. There are short tasks and in-depth activities throughout the course with an exam question at the end of module 4. Your tutor will mark your answers and is available if you require any further help. Your final award is based on your performance across all 4 modules and upon successful completion you'll gain a recognised ACTDEC certificate.:: Course durationMost Global Volunteer Network trainees work their way through their chosen course in around 2-4 months, although you set the pace of your studies. 6 months is the maximum duration, but this is extendable, if required, for a small extra fee.
